Study for your vocabulary test tomorrow on mostly list 4, but some of list 1, 2, and 3 as well.

Read pages 62- 64 (tip top only) and be ready for an open notes quiz tomorrow.  Here are the questions I'll ask on the quiz:

1. Who is Scout about to get in a fight with? (page 62)

2. What did he say to make her want to fight?  (page 62)

3. Who is Atticus defending? (page 62)

4. Scout asks Atticus if he'll win this case.  What is his response? (page 63)

5. Does Scout fight the boy that calls her a coward? (page 64)

6. What holiday is about to come up in the book? (page 64)

If you want to get points added to your test, you must write out all the questions you got wrong and then supply the correct answer.  I want test corrections by Tuesday.

 

September 17

Study for the short story test tomorrow! You can read the short story that you will be tested on on www.lordalford.com.

September 15

Finish all classwork (the "Interim" short story with questions and the vocabulary definitions and sentences).  The vocabulary words are on the web site (www.lordalford.com) and a good online dictionary is definr.com.  Don't forget to get make up work completed.

Test on short stories this Thursday.

September 8

Finish class work (hippo verb sheet, vocabulary flash cards, and MLA book).

September 4

September 3

No homework, but we do have a quiz tomorrow.  I would want to know setting, verbal irony, round and flat characters, and 3rd person limited and 3rd person omniscient points of view.  If you know these things, you'll make at least an 80 on the quiz.  The extra credit is going to be knowing what MLA stands for.

September 2

Finish class work.  Depending on what order you did your work, you may have vocabulary list one (check the website, I may have it up already), the short story "Speak" and the questions written on the board, and the Spider-Man grammar sentences (write HV over the helping verbs, LV over the linking verbs, and AV over the action verbs).

 

Bring something to read tomorrow if you have it. 

 

If you didn't bring in supplies for extra credit, but would still like to, I'll take them tomorrow.

Finish your "Lady or the Tiger" story if you did not in class.  Have a good weekend!

Review literary terms handout.  There will be a quiz tomorrow and it will cover:

irony, character, setting, simile, point of view, and one other random question.

What to Expect from this Blog

Hello Parents and Students,

I am going to try and keep up with homework here on the homework blog. This way students can find what they forgot to write down and parents can stay in touch. This is my first time trying this, so I will try hard not to fall behind. I do not usually give a lot of homework and much of what we have is what was not finished in class. You may post and responses you would like here and I will see them and respond if needed.
